Islington residents could win £25,000 which is up for grabs in a special promotion to

people who pay their council tax by Direct Debit - but they must

sign up before 5pm on  July 12, 2012.

Islington Council is one of 17 London boroughs to

sign up for the scheme with Bacs. Residents names go into a Londonwide prize

draw on July 17, 2012.

Direct Debit offers residents peace of mind that a

payment will not be missed and a guarantee that their money is safe.

Cllr Richard Greening, executive member for finance,

Islington Council said: "Switching to Direct Debit means that less taxpayers'

money is spent on paying bank charges and more on providing services. It also

puts residents in with a chance of winning the £25,000 cash prize."

Islington Council has frozen council tax for

2012/2013.To enter the prize draw, go to: www.islington.gov.uk/directdebit or call 020 7527

2633.

Residents who already pay their council tax bill by

Direct Debit will be automatically entered into the prize draw.
