Young people in Islington looking for employment or training opportunities are invited to attend the Go Live! job fair on Wednesday 3 October.
The event - aimed at 16-24 year-olds - will be held at Islington's newest youth hub, Lift from 11-6pm.
A range of employers from Aquaterra Leisure, to high street retailers will be attending the fair with information about current vacancies within their organisations. There will also be information on training courses and apprenticeships, including the London College of Beauty Therapy, whose students will give demonstrations on some of the courses offered at the college.
Islington's Youth Careers Team (formerly known as Connexions) will be on hand to offer advice and guidance on all issues related to employment and training.
Islington Council's executive member for children and families, Cllr Richard Watts, said:
"We know that lots of young people in the borough are struggling to find work at the moment. We're on their side and that's why we're doing everything we can to help, such as organising job fairs like this one. This is a chance for young people to come and speak directly to local training providers and employers and get advice about their next steps in the world of work."
Information and advice on employment - from writing CVs and application forms, to finding vacancies and preparing for interviews - can also be found on Islington Council's dedicated website for young people in the borough, izzy-info.com. The latest job vacancies are listed in the Islington Jobs Opportunity Bulletin at www.izzy-info.com/jobs
Parents and carers are welcome to come along to the Go Live! job fair and no advance booking is required. Lift is located at 45 White Lion Street, N1 9PW www.liftislington.org.uk
