Want to give up something a bit less obvious than chocolate and booze this year? Here's are a few light-hearted suggestions for things to give up for Lent - only in Islington.
-
Could you do without posh coffee for 40 days? It ain't easy in Islington...
- Posh Coffee. Living in Islington is a hazard to your wallet in many ways, but one of the more expensive habits you can pick up is getting hooked on the amazing coffee on offer in its cafes and bars. Why not resolve to make your own instead for 40 days?
- Shopping in Waitrose. Waitrose came out top in our 'best supermarket in Islington' poll a while back, and there's no doubting that both the Holloway Road and Angel branches are lovely places to shop. But buying all your groceries there can quickly become an expensive habit! Why not try a cheaper local alternative for a bit?
- Taking the bus. Islington is ridiculously well connected transport-wise, so it's quite easy to become lazy and hop on buses whenever you need to get from A to B. Why not work on your fitness regime by forgoing the bus and enjoying the delights of the New River and Highbury Fields instead?
