Crime Map: Police.co.uk to shed light on street safety. Just keep hitting reload!

Dubbed Britain's 'Crime Map', the street-by-street crime level indicator hosted at Police.co.uk crashed under sheer weight of traffic this morning as up to 75,000 worried residents rushed to find out about safety on their street.

A spokesman for the site earlier advised us to 'keep trying'.
I'm not too proud to admit that I was one of those anxious homeowners, all to keen to scare myself by looking at the hyper-local statistics that are broken down into crime types such as burglary, violence and anti-social behaviour.
While repeatedly hitting 'refresh' on the site I wasn't entirely sure what I was most afraid of: whether I'd soon be afraid to venture outside my front garden, or the negative effect that a 'bad result' might have on house prices. Or perhaps my eagerness was just my geeky side enjoying the opportunity to digest some juicy new stats.
Either way, I'm still as blissfully ignorant about crime stats in my area as I was before, because the site has continued to malfunction since 10am this morning. All I'm seeing is a blank screen, which really makes me wonder how the site's developers (the project cost £300,000) managed to under-estimate just how in-demand this information would be.
So if anyone reading this has succeeded in typging in a local postcode and getting hold of those all-important figures, I'd be very interested to hear them. Please comment below if you have any results!
