The City University London Work-Shadowing Scheme has been developed to offer our students an opportunity to “shadow” a business professional, who has specific knowledge about an occupation or career in which the students are interested. We expect that participation in the scheme will enable our students to gain a better understanding of the different career paths available to them and make more informed career choices. We also hope that it will help them develop a more realistic picture of the job market as well as raise their aspirations.
To get involved all you need to do is agree to be “shadowed” by one of our penultimate or final year students for a day. The student doesn’t need to shadow a specific individual but they can instead shadow a whole team or department.. We are looking for professionals across different sectors and career paths including Finance, Engineering, IT, Marketing, HR, Media, Retail, Health, Not for Profit and Public Sector.
The work-shadowing experience will last for a full day only. Some advantages of getting involved with the scheme include:
· It is a cost-effective means to develop your relationship with the University and our students
· The contact that you will have with the students will enable you to heighten your profile amongst our future graduates
· The scheme is an excellent way for you to meet and even “pre-screen” some suitable candidates for opportunities at your organisation
· If you do not regularly recruit large numbers of graduates you will be able to raise awareness of your opportunities on campus
But most importantly you will be helping our students develop their business skills, increase their commercial awareness and raise their aspirations and motivation.
Taking part in the scheme is very easy and you can find out more at http://tinyurl.com/4v26eqh .
