Islington Chamber wants to get #islingtonworking
London, UK 2012 – The issue of unemployment is now one of growing urgency. Not only is there a surge in youth unemployment but small businesses are also facing tremendous financial strains.
For there to be continuous growth and employment in Islington more help and support is needed, to ease the pressure off SMEs.
Taking on new employees may not always be possible but when employers are ready to grow their businesses they are in dire need of resources that do not put a strain on their finances. By having these available resources it will help them not only increase their workforce but to do so affordably.
The Islington Chamber of Commerce has a number of members and strategic partners who can help with employer engagement. We want to actively encourage local businesses to boost employment and get "Islington Working".
There are a number of ways for employers to get "Islington Working"
Request support from Islington Council
Seek guidance from FE and HE institutions such as City & Islington College & London Metropolitan University.
Take on an Apprentice
Provide Work Experience Placements for local secondary school students
Volunteer at local Work Clubs; undertaking CV clinics and mentoring
Consider hiring an Ex-Offender
20-23rd March @islchamber (The ICoC's twitter page) will be tweeting hints and tips on how we can get #islingtonworking
