Venue: Whittington Park Community Centre, Yerbury Road, N19 4RS
Katia Lom was born in Geneva, Switzerland, and has lived in Islington since 2007. Over the last two years she has been painting the hidden landscapes of Stroud Green, starting with the trees outside her kitchen window and moving out to the expanses of Finsbury Park. As a foreigner, it has been through painting her local surroundings that Katia has gained a sense of belonging in London. Her work has recently been exhibited as part of the 60th Anniversary Celebrations of the Festival of Britain at the Southbank Centre and she is also participating in Reimagining the Line: Drawing Lessons for the Twenty-First Century, a research project at Tate Britain. Lom has a post-graduate degree from the Prince’s Drawing School and also works as a choreographer.
