Ting-Ting Cheng was born in Taipei. She has lived in North East London since 2010 and has been working in and around Islington since 2008. As an outsider to London, her recent work has centered on the relationships between foreigners and local residents, and how people relate to different cultures. Her work explores language as a symbol of identity and as a system of signs, looking particularly at translation and how meanings are transformed in encounters between different languages. Recent exhibitions include Mixed-Other, Islington Art Factory (2012), and Object Fantasy, Taipei Fine Art Museum, Taipei (2011). Cheng has an MA in Photographic Studies from the University of Westminster, London.
