On Saturday 21st September from 11am-4pm, visitors to the N1 Centre in Islington can receive advice on reducing food waste, tools to help them reduce food waste and even receive a free portion of hot food. The event will be a free food giveaway to the public to demonstrate what can be done with the amount of food that the average household wastes in a year and raise awareness of the problems caused by food waste.
The event, organised by the North London Waste Authority, will demonstrate how local residents can save £50 on their household food bills each month. There will also be a selection of delicious hot recipes available to taste throughout the day. Visitors can sample delicious dishes taken from the North London Food Lovers Cookbook. Designed by local North London residents, recipes include scrumptious 'Vegetable Fritters' or the tasty 'Ragu for Pasta'. Visitors to the N1 Centre can even learn how to spice up leftover food by sampling the delicious 'Veg Biryani'.
Lynne Glover, Centre Manager at the N1 Centre, says: "We're really pleased to welcome the North London Waste Authority. Come along on Saturday to see how you can save money and reduce food waste. As the delicious sampling session will demonstrate, it's amazing what can be done with food that would usually be thrown away. We can't wait to tuck in!"
