Where to go for breakfast in Islington

I was recently asked where the best place for a greasy fry-up is in Islington, and what with this being a long weekend of lie-ins and late starts, thought I'd investigate the best venues for brekkies and brunch in N1 and the surrounding area. Are you ready to have your arteries hardened?

Planning on a big night out? Make sure you've got a big breakfast waiting for you in the morning...
As its name suggests, top of the list has got to be The Breakfast Club. The retro diner on Camden Passage is actually a great place to hang out at any time of day or night, but if it's a hangover-busting fry up your're after, you'll love its wide range of brunch options, for veggies and carnivores alike. Be sure to be there early though: it's a hugely popular option and queues are common.
A les obvious but equally satisfying option is The S&M Cafe on Essex Road. The suggestively-named sausage and mash joint also does a great line in substantial breakfasts, which are served well into the afternoon.
If you're after a budget option, don't diss Wetherspoons for its range of breakfast options. Both The White Swan at Highbury & Islington and The Coronet on Holloway Road serve the usual range of affordable meals, and you can get all kinds of breakfast here, from the full-fat try up to healthy porridge and fruit, all at great prices.
If it's something a little bit more refined and continental you're after, head to Ronald's Road, Highbury, and drop in on Le Peche Mignon where you'll find the finest quality French petit dejuener this side of the channel. From eggs florentine to delicious patisserie, you won't go home hungry.
