Awful. AVOID.

We ordered three dishes from Zing Zing: Smoked and Shredded Chicken, Prawn and Pinenut Wraps, and Vegetarian and Sweetcorn Soup. All of them were the end result of very bad ideas which no chef in their right mind should've ever let leave the kitchen. The smoked chicken smelled as if it was prepared by burying chicken strips in reams of paper and setting it alight, then deep frying the charred remains. Literally burnt-paper smoked--not hickory-wood smoked. I couldn't get through it; food should never smell like that. It took a day to remove the smell from the living room. The prawn wrap was fusion "disassembly" gone wrong. What arrived was a chunk of lettuce with a portion of hoisin sauce in one packet, and in another a small quantity of finely chopped baby corn, onion, and tiny bits of prawn. It was enough for two "wraps" but tasted so bizarre we only had one bite. The vegetarian and sweetcorn soup remained an enigma. Take an egg drop soup with sliced ****ake mushrooms--which if they had stopped there would've made for a salvageable soup--but now add sweetcorn. One sip and my taste processing threw a "*** did I just eat" error. Two more sips. Still confused. The whole experience puzzled us. We imagined the chef with a cooking ethos similar to a college kid in a canteen randomly slapping food on his plate, but with a graphic design budget. In fact, the only thing about Zing Zing which I would rate equal to consensus is their branding. If only good branding *tasted* good.

    Very good.

We haven't had Chinese takeaway for a while. Zing Zing is a little bit different and not your average Chinese takeaway.

Don't get me wrong, they still do the 'usuals' very well, including sweet and sour chicken, crispy shredded beef, duck and pancakes and all that.

However, it's their new inventions that are generally very good. Sesame Glazed Chicken is a favourite of mine, as it their prawn toast (loads of prawn served on a mini baguette - Amazing!!). The nutella and banana spring rolls are also great and not something that I've experienced before.

Anyway, would recommend, even if you're not a big takeaway eater. Put it this way, you don't feel like you've had a Chinese takeaway afterwards.

Finally a good Chinese take away

Had zing zing last week, I was in highbury at a mates. Even on a Saturday night delivery was quick.
We had a few different starters and mains to share. I'm a meat guy, so I particularly liked the chicken satay and the ribs. The sesame chicken was one of the best dishes I've ever had in a Chinese. It's great having this on my doorstep lets hope the good quality and service continues.

    Tasty Takeaway

I ordered from Zing Zing this past Friday evening. I had the Sesame Chicken which was delicious, tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. I recommend ordering the prawn crackers, they are more authentic and have more of a kick than the ones you find in a standard Chinese. The food arrived hot and in good time. The delivery guy was polite and friendly as was the girl who took my order.

My super new chinese take away.

My family ordered our dinner from Zing Zing on friday. No only that the food was amazing but it was delivered hot and on time. I highly recommend it to any of you who are considering a chinese meal in the area.

Best Chinese I've had in ages

Ordered for the first time last night- was delicious, none of the normal greasy stuff. Tasted very fresh and light. Very happy as islington needs a decent Chinese!
