I havent' been into this place for years because I went there in 2007 and had an awful experience - my food took an hour to arrive and when it did it was wrong; there was no attempt to refund us or even make a fuss. However... my mum convinced me to go back in last night and I have to say, all was healed. It quite noisy and cramped in Le Mercury, but the staff are lovely (although there is one that didn't speak English and looked at me blankly when I asked to order drinks, which was a bit awkward). Menu is quite limited but that's how they manage to make it such good value. We had three three course meals, two glasses of wine, a bottle of sparkling water and a juice for under £60, which I was impressed by. And it was all delicious: Calamari soft, not chewy, meat cooked as requested, fish fresh (it all arrives fresh in the morning rather than frozen) and the right sized desserts. I would book though, as it does get really busy.
