My first ever visit to a Jamie's Italian was at the chain's newly-opened branch at the Angel Building, Islington. First impressions: the bar and dining space have been gorgeously kitted out, with lots of shiny tiling, high ceilings and industrial-style fittings. Walking in with a group of six on a week night we weren't able to be seated right away, but waited only 5 or 10 minutes in the roomy bar area. Once we came to order, I was a little disappointed by the limited choice for vegetarian diner (two mains out of about 9 or 10) but the food itself was perfectly cooked and very flavoursome with all the individual ingredients and other elements absolutely at their peak Starters were interesting too: a 'nacho' dish made with ravioli particularly stood out. Service was very friendly and all in all it was fun but the limited number of veggie options will mean I won't come back as often as I'd otherwise like to.
