It can be easy to forget that Oregano exists, since it's effectively hidden from view when you're hubgry and prowling Upper Street for places to eat. But this seclusion is also part of Oregano's charm: it's just that little bit hidden, giving it a more intimate and slightly less frenzied atmosphere than some of its nearby competetors. The restaurant also has a strong family vibe, and it's the perfect choice for those with children: like all the best Italians, Oregano is happy to welcome diners of all ages. Despite being off the main drag, the restaurant is still a mere 30 seconds' walk from Screen on the Green and other places of interest, making it the ideal bolthole for a quick bit to eat before a film begins. We managed it in 45 minutes last night, which gave us ample time to get seated, served, enjoy a pleasant two-course meal then hop over to the cinema for the 9pm showing. The food itself is fresh, imaginative and tasty, always served
