During a World Cup, we tend to do a lot more watching of sport than actually taking part, but if you want to get off the sofa and do something a little more energetic this weekend, you might want to head over to the Emirates Stadium for he Proactive Islington Sports and Cycling Festival (no vuvuzelas allowed - at least, not until us local residents are safely out of earshot, please!)

Taking place between 12 and 6pm tomorrow, Saturday 19th June, the event's organisers promise 'inspirational sports and cycling activities for the whole community'. They had a good turnout of over 13,000 people last year, and are expecting similar numbers this time around.

Far from being a purely spectator event, attendees will be encouraged to work off their weekend excesses in a fully interactive 'sports zone', where they can test their strength on climbing walls and rowing machines, or taking part in sports demos of basketball, netball, baseball, volleyball, skateboarding, cricket,

fencing, judo, rugby and more.

Those who've been particularly inspired by recent football activity can see how well they'd do in a penalty shoot-out situation, with players from Arsenal in the Community. There'll also be designated areas for kids, including the ever-popular bouncy castle. Finally, adults can chill out in the health zone for a well-earned head massage or relaxtion session.

There's no need to book, and the event is entirely free, so it's quite OK to decide on the day if you're planning on a big night out this evening!

Great to hear it! I didn't join in myself, but looked really buzzing when I walked past :)

Had a really good day - loads of free stuff to do. The kids particularly liked the alien shooting game!
